Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack’s agent has said that his client would love a move to MLS side New York Red Bulls. Michael Ballack is out of contract at the end of the season, while he is also thought to be forced out by the board. He has fallen out with the management at Bayern Leverkusen, despite being sounded as one of the greatest signings for the club on his comeback a few seasons ago. He is widely expected to leave the club, but the destination remains undecided yet. There have also been rumours that the German will be interested in a move to MLS.

It is something that was recently confirmed by his agent. Michael Becker, who is the agent for Michael Ballack, said recently that his client has been showing an interest in going to New York Red Bulls. However, it seems that they are more interested in signing Stephen Ireland from Aston Villa due to the wage demands of the German. It is thought that Michael Ballack is demanding more than his current salary of £ 80,000 per week, but the club are looking at cheaper alternative in the form of Stephen Ireland. As result, New York Red Bulls might not be the destination for Michael Ballack after all according to Michael Becker, though he didn’t rul out a move to another club in the MLS such as the Seattle Sounders.

“Michael would love to play in New York. However, it seems that [New York general manager Erik] Soler already made massive promises to Stephen Ireland in October. This is an unbelievable incident. There are a lot of places where Michael believes he would be a good fit, but in New York with Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez, that’s a title-winning team in his mind,” Becker said in a recent interview. Bayern Leverkusen have been struggling in the Bundesliga without the influence of Michael Ballack.
